She was born in Boston, MA on November 4, 1946 to Mary E. (Ronayne) and William F. Blevins. Kathy was raised in Dorchester and attended the St. Gregory’s School through the 10th grade before relocating to Weymouth with her family, where she graduated from Weymouth HS with the class of ‘64. It was here, as a new student, she was forced to share a book in French class with another student everyone called Skip. That simple moment started a journey that lasted 63 years.
Kathy and Skip were married September 10, 1966. They settled in Pembroke in 1972 where they found their life-long home, raised their 3 children, and established many friendships that have lasted to this day.
Kathy was very involved in her new hometown of Pembroke. She taught Sunday School in St. Thecla’s Parish and was an election poll official in the town for over 20 years, where she socialized and gossiped almost as much as she performed her polling duties. She also extensively served the youth of Pembroke with her many contributions to Pembroke Youth Hockey, including serving as the PYH Booster President and helping establish the PYH Bingo to support the costs for both the program and its member families.
Kathy’s greatest passion is her family. In addition to her devoted husband and best friend Paul ‘Skip’ McIver, she is survived by her loving children Jeff & Nancy McIver of Sandwich, Bill & Tammy McIver of North Weymouth, and Stephanie & Dan Tolman of Marshfield.
She is the cherished “Gram” of 7 grandchildren (and their spouses) – Chris, Jay (Maria), and Brian Tolman; Meghan (Matthew) Roberts and Ryan McIver; and Maura and Colin McIver. She is also the loving sister of Mary Elizabeth Russo of Weymouth and the late Janet Dickson, and she leaves behind several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, and a wide circle of intimate friends.
Kathy’s family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to the teams at Queen Anne’s Nursing Home & Autumn Hospice for the amazing care they provided to her…..and to Skip.
