Peter Cunningham

Peter Charles Cunningham, of Rockland, passed away on July 12, 2022 at the age of 74 after over a year of courageously battling brain cancer. He was the son of the late Alfonsina (Varallo) and Peter T. Cunningham.

Peter was raised in Somerville where he attended Somerville High School. After graduating, he went on to join the United States Marines and served in the Vietnam War. After the war he was honorably discharged. In 1971 he married the love of his life, Susan (Collins), and the two settled in Rockland where they would raise their family. Peter worked a lengthy career of 50 years as a clerk for Stop & Shop.

Peter was a funny and loving man. He loved going on family trips to Disney and Florida. He liked watching TV (particularly M*A*S*H), working on his yard, and taking care of his pool. Above all, he most enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Peter was the loving husband of Susan Cunningham of Rockland. Father of Scott Cunningham and his wife Lauren of Plymouth and Alicia Michal and her husband J. Corey Michal of Beverly. Papa of Joseph Cunningham, Samantha Cunningham, Jonah Michal, Alexander Michal, and Nina Michal. Brother of Dennis Cunningham and his late wife Mary of Rockland. Uncle of Breena Boltas of Walpole. He is survived by many loving cousins, and lifelong friends. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 17th from 4:00PM-8:00PM at Sullivan Funeral Home in Rockland - 45 E Water Street. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 18th at 9:00AM at Holy Family Church - 403 Union Street. Burial will be held following the mass at 1:30PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
