Robert Gerard Nelson

Robert Gerard Nelson of Pembroke, MA, and formerly of Cambridge, MA, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023, at the age of 70. Known to most as Bob, Bobby, or simply “Nelson,” those that met him quickly realized how special he was as he brought tremendous joy to those around him. He was the most amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, colleague and friend anyone could ask for. He loved life, always sharing his big heart and generosity with all, as he would do anything for his family and friends. To know him was to love him. 

Robert is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Patricia (Hiscock) Nelson, daughter Corie and her husband Dan McHugh of Kingston, MA, son Jarrod Nelson of Pembroke, MA, brother Jerry Nelson and partner Joan Andrews of Cape Cod, MA, sister Mary and her husband Joe Barry of Cape Cod, MA, and sister Linda and her husband Bob Kussy of Weymouth, MA. 

He was predeceased by his parents Betty and Ivar Nelson, mother-in-law Cora Hiscock, father-in-law William Hiscock, brother Donald Nelson, brother-in-law Billy Hiscock, sister-in-law Linda Ribeiro, nephew Bobby Ribeiro and niece Amanda Brown amongst other family and friends. 

Robert is also survived by his loving grandchildren Liam, Colin and Allison, who meant the world to him, as well as many beloved nephews and nieces including David Nelson, Michael Nelson, Denise Doyle and Michelle Wallace. He shared a special bond with his nieces, Kelly Campbell and Christine Connell, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours held on Monday from 3-7 PM at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St, Rte 53, Hanover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Parish- St. Mary's, 392 Hanover St, Rte 139, Hanover. Burial will be private.
