
Mrs. Ruth V. Griffith Hayes, 86 of Hanover died Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after an illness of several months. The daughter of the late William and Amy Johnson Griffith, she was born in Greenfield on April 28, 1920. She was raised educated in Pembroke and Hanover. Mrs. Hayes lived many years in Hanover, moved to Brockton in 1975 and returned to Hanover the past year. She was formerly employed as a Service Clerk for the former Tedeschi's Markets, Angelo's Markets and retired from the Stop and Shop Supermarket Chain. She was a member of the Hanover Council on Aging and a former member of the Hanover Democratic Town Committee. Wife of the late John J. Hayes Sr, she is survived by 3 sons, John J. ''Jack'' Hayes Jr. of Ashland NH, Retired Hanover Police Detective Thomas F. Hayes of Hanover and Hanover Police Chief Paul R. Hayes of Pembroke, 2 daughters, Patricia M. Andrews of Pocasset and Margaret G. Bittle of Hurricane UT, 17 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 11:30 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery. Visiting hours omitted.
