
Mr. Salvatore R. Mari, 80, of Halifax died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 in the New England Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness. The son of the late Joseph and Louise Filose Mari, he was born in Somerville on June 12, 1925. He was raised and educated in Somerville and has lived in Halifax since 1954. Mr. Mari was a retired self employed Contractor. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of the Lake Church, a member of the Halifax Knights of Columbus and a member of the Halifax VFW. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Area and participated in Action against the enemy on Okinawa from April to July of 1945. He is survived by his wife, Frances Elias Mari, 1 son, Thomas J. Mari of Courtland VA, 1 daughter. Cathy Steinberg of Hastings MN, 2 brothers, Joseph Mari of Rockland and Louis Mari of Abington, 3 sisters, Madeline Perella of Whitman, Rose Russo of Marshfield and Louise Dampolo of Brockton and 7 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Emma Cartwright. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11 AM in Our Lady of Lake Church, 575 Monponsett Street, Rte 58 in Halifax. Interment will be at a later date In St. Michael Cemetery in Boston. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan Street at the corner of Rte 14 & 58 in HANSON on Friday from 4-7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church.
