Brian D. Smith

Brian David Smith, 63, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Signature Healthcare. Born on April 10, 1954 in Huntertown, he was a son of the late Josephine (Lowden) Smith and David Gene Smith, who survives. Brian was employed with Dana and was talented in woodworking and metal fabricating. An outdoorsman, Brian enjoyed hunting and fishing. A classic car enthusiast, Brian also enjoyed watching TV such as NASCAR, Discovery Channel and History Channel, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is also survived by his children, Colene (Adam) Church of Havelock, N.C., Casey (Angela) Smith of Hernando, Miss., Clancy (Holly) Smith of Avilla, Ind., Chad Smith of Churubusco, Ind., and Chelsea (Joseph) Schneider of Willoughby, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Vona (Joe) Grimes of Fort Wayne, Mary Jane (Duane) Stagray of Linwood, Mich., and Gloria (Dan) Spear of Kokomo, Ind. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Huffman) Schnepp. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00am on Thursday, February, 1, 2018 at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 S.R. 37, Harlan, Ind., with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 4-8pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial at Harlan Memorial Cemetery, Harlan, Ind. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Clancy Smith.
