Emanuel Schwartz

EMANUEL SCHWARTZ, 79, of Harlan, died on Monday, July 29, 2013, 9:20 p.m., at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born July 29, 1934, in Adams County, he was a son of the late Joseph Schwartz and Elizabeth (Graber) Schwartz. He was owner of ERC Schwartz Masonry for 35 years, retiring in 2005 to take care of his wife, Catherine. He was a member of South Scipio United Brethren. Surviving are his daughter, Cathy (Tim) Caywood of Harlan; sons, Emanuel (Jane) Schwartz Jr. of Harlan, William (Cathy) Schwartz of Fort Wayne and Robert (Sara) Schwartz of Harlan; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Amos (Magie) Schwartz of Harlan and Rubin Schwartz of Montpelier, Mich.; sister, Betty Schwartz of New Haven; and sister-in-law, Ann Schwartz of South Carolina. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Mae Schwartz on July 11, 2011; six brothers; and three sisters. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Church of the Good Shepherd, with calling from noon to 1 p.m. Pastor Brad Miller, Pastor Gary Gates and Pastor Ted Rapone officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial in Scipio Cemetery. Preferred memorials to South Scipio United Brethren. Arrangements by Hockemeyer Funeral Home.
