Janice Harris Hanes

Mrs. Janice Harris Hanes, 68, of 111 Turkey Hill Lane, Harmony, died March 9, 2011 at her residence. She was a native of Iredell County, born December 25, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Howard Eugene and Wilma Hepler Harris.

Mrs. Hanes was former employee of J.P. Stevens for 21 years. In June of 1988 she married Michael Hanes who survives. Also surviving is a son: Bruce Earl Whitaker, Jr. (Teresa) of Mocksville, two daughters: Sherry Keaton (Charlie) of Harmony, and Laura Mitchell (Dave) of Mocksville, four grandchildren: Selena Swaim (Andy) of Harmony, Ashley Whitaker of Lewisville, Dustin Keaton of Harmony, and Anna Whitaker of Mocksville, and two great-grandchildren: Ashton Swaim and Ashton Varner.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister: Joyce McJunkin and two brothers: Gene and Ricky Harris.

Funeral services celebrating Janice's life will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 7 until 8:30 at Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony.
