Carl J. Schilling

Born in Ashland, Carl was a 1943 graduate of Ashland High School and a WWII Marine veteran. Along with his brother, George, he was the successful owner and proprietor of Schilling’s Store, in Ashland for approximately 50 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Mauritius Parish, Ashland, now St. Charles Borromeo Parish. First and foremost, Carl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary L. O’Donnell; sisters Rose Hawkins and Sr. Agnes Schilling, OSF; brothers, George Schilling and Fr. Francis X. Schilling.

Surviving are three children: Judith A. and husband, Joseph P. McCann, Hatfield, PA, Carl J. Schilling and wife, Lauren, Hilton Head Island, SC, and Joan L. Schilling and husband, David Lutz, Harrisburg, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Joseph, Jill, and James McCann and Alexander, Sophie, and Ava Lutz plus four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sydney, Josie, and James.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:00 AM Friday, July 14, 2017 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Harrisburg, PA. Visitation will be held at the church between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM immediately prior to the Mass. Burial will be at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Ashland, PA at the convenience of the family.
