Carol A. Shaffner, 78, passed away in Harrisburg, PA, on Monday, May 20, 2024. Carol was the wife of the late Larry Shaffner, married 37 years. Carol was born in Harrisburg, PA on, January 19, 1946, the daughter of the late Carl and Rita (Hasenstab) Chaundy. Carol spent many wonderful years wintering in Florida with her late husband Larry. Carol had over 35 years of employment with Pennsylvania State services, working for the Department of Revenue, Department of Labor & Industry, and retiring from UC Board of Reviews as an appeals system administrator. She loved her pets, family and friends, and enjoyed entertaining them in her home and dining out. For fun she would paint anything and everything with any type of paint to get things to match, as shopping and decorating were her hobbies! Carol is survived by her sister, Susan Pratt (husband Ralph) and her dog Higgins. A short visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St Harrisburg, PA 17111, from 10:00 am-10:30 am, with a funeral service starting 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Carol’s name to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area or to Molly’s Place Rescue, Mechanicsburg.
