

Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Charles William Swenson and the late Ruth Ellen Wheeler Swenson. Duaine was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church and a former member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from John Harris High School in 1964 and attended vo-technical school for printing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Duaine retired after more than 30 years as the assistant director of the Republican Printing Department for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He also owned and operated Perfect Parties Catering and Swenson Printing. He achieved the Eagle Scout rank from the Boy Scouts of America and earned four palms. Duaine was a certified Pennsylvania EMT. He was a life member and former chairman of the board at Harrisburg River Rescue and a former member of Newberrytown Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jazlynn Ann Martin.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ann Brown Swenson of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Douglas Charles Swenson of Enola, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Amy Swenson Martin and her husband, Jimmy, stationed in Japan, and Karen O'Leary and her husband, Nathan, of Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brittany Salato, Darius Swenson, Desmond Martin, Kaia O'Leary and Sydney O'Leary; one sister, Carol Sherman and her husband, The Reverend Drue Sherman, of York, Pennsylvania; one brother, Dale Swenson of Millersville, Maryland, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 o'clock Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 York St., Mechanicsburg, PA.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Timothy R. Baer. Entombment will be at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
