John E. Nye Jr.

John E. Nye Jr., 76, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 18, 1939, in Hershey, PA; he was the son of the late John E. and Mary (Harlow) Nye Sr.; and preceded in death by his brother, Paul E. Nye Sr. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann H. Nye; his son, James A. Nye, his wife, Wynne, of Harrisburg; his daughter, Lorie A. Garman, her husband, Dervin, of Venice, FL; 6 grandchildren, Carrie Sallese, Robert Sallese, Johnathan Sallese, Michael Sallese, Megan Nye and Zachary Nye; and a great-granddaughter, Zoey. John was a retired employee from the former Chromalloy, Harrisburg, served in the U.S. Air Force, and was an active member of the Derry St. United Methodist Church. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg, The Rev. Mack Granderson, will be officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Derry St. United Methodist Church, 1508 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17104.
