She was born January 30, 1932 in Harrisburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Mary (Grandone) Barr.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Woods) Garman, wife of Lorne, of Dauphin; her son, Thomas Woods, husband of Pamela, of York Haven; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Strauser, Andy Garman, Zachary Woods, Jonathan Woods and Emily Woods; 2 great-grandchildren, Ender Strauser and Makayla Strauser; two brothers, Elwood Barr, husband of Caroline, of New Cumberland and Donald Barr, husband of Judy, of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Central Dauphin School District and a graduate of John Harris High School, class of 1950.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Central PA Airstream Club and Bell Telephone Pioneers.
Mary loved music, traveling the US and Canada, playing cards, watching game shows (especially Jeopardy) and reading. She was a gentle, thoughtful and compassionate lady, had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with her family.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St, Harrisburg. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
