Nancy Jean (Feese) Guth, 90, of Harrisburg (formerly of Millersburg), fell asleep in death Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Columbia Cottage, Harrisburg. Born July 7, 1933, in Hebe, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. & Laura M. (Goode) Feese. She was preceded in death (5/2/17) by her husband of 46 years, Richard U. Guth.
She is survived by nieces Janet Noblit & Evelyn Oakes (Jeffrey R.) of Millersburg, Katherine Kessler (Delbert) of New Bloomfield, nephew Richard Peifer of Halifax, 3 grandnephews, 1 grandniece, stepchildren R. Scott of Harrisburg & John R. Guth (Debra) of Michigan, Cathy A. & Mary A. Guth of Texas, Linda L. Sheldon of Ohio, step-grand- & great-grandchildren, close friends Ted & Sharon Pauley, Janice Gontz, & her Siamese cat, Suzi.
She was predeceased by her brother, Roy Feese, sisters Mae B. Peifer & Shirley R. Lower, stepdaughter Susan J. Warrell, grandnephew Jeffrey J. Oakes & great grandson A.J. Garay.
Nancy was a kind, generous, intelligent, ambitious soul who always had a passion for philanthropy. Her solid values & interests were established early in life. Her high school yearbook reflected her many ambitions & personality. She was a member of the junior Red Cross, and had a lifelong interest in and talent for writing. She was editor-in-chief of her school newspaper. She was described as "efficient and dependable; succeeds in whatever she tries". Even the class prophecy had her working in a corporate business office!
Nancy came from humble beginnings and held various jobs in her youth, including Johnson-Baillie Shoe Factory & (simultaneously) Barney's Restaurant. She attended Patricia Stevens School of Modeling in 1963. Nancy purchased her own home at age 33, when she left her small town for the city. Once there, she worked for General Electric, where she met her late husband. They went on to start their own successful international business (in which she was actively involved well into her 80s), Guth Laboratories, Inc. She was Vice President/Secretary/Treasurer & later became Sole Shareholder & Member of the Board. For 23 years she worked simultaneously as a medical secretary for Cardiovascular & Thoracic Associates. She enjoyed traveling as well as entertaining Guth Labs business associates who flew in from other countries. She was a member of the Colonial Park UCC, Harrisburg.
Memorial services will be held Monday, February 26, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg.
