Born April 4, 1956, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late J. Harlan and Nancy (Watkins) Lucas.
Surviving is her wife, Kristee K. Myers; sister, Linda Baldwin (Kevin); brother, Larry Lucas (Kathy); two nieces, Meghan Baldwin and Lindsey Lucas; and a nephew, Dylan Baldwin.
She was a retired courier for FedEx, with over 30 years of service.
Valerie was the first woman in Pennsylvania to receive a full basketball scholarship to a division one school where she played at Cal State Fullerton.
Valerie grew up going to Stone Harbor with her family on vacations, which she continued throughout her life. She loved cruising with Kristee to the Caribbean each winter and was a devoted Penn State Football fan who enjoyed College Game Day and Duke Basketball.
Valerie had a deep love for golden retrievers, especially her beloved golden, Breeze.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 12:00 PM, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery. A visitation will be from 11:00 AM, Friday, until the time of the service in the funeral home.
