Alphonso Rudolph Mason Jr.

Mr. Mason was born in Harrisonburg on September 26, 1961 and was the son of Alphonso R. Mason, Sr. and Eva Frances Durrett Mason of Harrisonburg.

He lived most of his life in the Harrisonburg area and was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver, who worked very hard to provide for his family.

Mr. Mason is survived by his children, Alphonso R. Mason, III, Jerome A. Mason, Desiree M. Mason, and Alyssa D. Mason, a step daughter, Calea Whitelow, a devoted companion, Beth Ann Jackson, twin granddaughters, Khionna and Kiara, four sisters, Lucretia Cooper of Harrisonburg, Vicki Haliburton of Richmond, VA, Denise Haliburton and husband, Bill of Harrisonburg, Joanndra Haliburton of Savannah, GA, and two brothers, Kenneth Durrett of Mt. Crawford, Carl Lee Durrett of Miami, FL, a Godmother, Patricia Blakey of Harrisonburg, one niece, six nephews, a host of devoted and treasured friends including Billy Fitzwater.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Wyancko.

He will be cremated and a service will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, with Rev. Tony Carter and Rev. Dwight Blakey officiating.
