Bernice Arbutus Burkett

A daughter of the late Bernard B. and Anna Mae Whittington Taylor, she was born on Nov. 2, 1935 in Keyser, WV. She lived her early life in Piedmont, WV and had been living in Harrisonburg for 53 years.

In January 1960 she married Robert F. Burkett who survives her.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Franklin L. Burkett of Grottoes; two grandsons, Matthew and Joey Burkett; three sisters, Lillian Haggerty of PA; Delores Wright of Swanton, MD; and Beverly Gordon of Westernport, MD; fifteen nieces; seven nephews; eleven great-nieces and eleven great-nephews. She was preceded In death by one son, Robert Urice; one sister, Louise Lee; and one brother, Bernard (Bucky) Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock Tuesday morning, Aug. 31st from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Repass officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:00 this (Monday) evening.
