
He was born June 13, 1950, at Morgantown, WV, son of the late Ruth Maxwell.
On September 15, 1978, he married the former Wilma Mae Watson, who survives at Harrisonburg.
Also surviving are sons, Steven Spencer, Harrisonburg, Donald Watson and companion, Brittany, Mill Creek; daughters, Wilma Whitelow and husband, Carlyle, Harrisonburg, Christina Simmons and husband, Donald, Nancy Swiger and husband, Nathan, all of Belington, Brenda Knotts and husband, James, Dailey; seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Mr. Spencer retired as a cook and had worked in several restaurants in the Harrisonburg area. He had also worked in the Holly Farms poultry plant. He enjoyed camping, playing with his grandchildren and collecting Matchbox cars. He was Pentecostal by faith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 28, 2016, from the Schoonover - Stemple Funeral Chapel, 95 South Crim Avenue, Belington. The Rev. A. H. Belt will officiate and interment will follow in the Trinity Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour on Thursday.
