Brenda Sanders Gatewood

Brenda Sanders Gatewood, 72, a resident of Bridgewater, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at her home. She was born in Harrisonburg on July 18, 1946 and was the daughter of Kathleen Carrier Davis of Harrisonburg and the late Harold Sanders. Brenda lived the majority of her life in Rockingham County. She attended Broadway High School and was a distributor for the Washington Post until retiring in 2004. On August 31, 1985 she married Robert Nelson Gatewood, who passed away on December 7, 2008. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Randy Gatewood and fiancé, Catherine Dalton of Bridgewater; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother Harold Sanders and wife, Joyce, of Harrisonburg; a sister, Kathy Handley and husband, Tom, of Richmond; and a nephew, Harold Sanders, Jr. and wife, Caroline, of Harrisonburg. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Kite; and her step-father, Olson Davis. A funeral service will be held 11 am, Friday, March 29, 2019 in the Mausoleum at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, with Noland “Dick” Carrier officiating.
