Charles Macon Ellis Jr.

He was born on September 1, 1926 in Danville, VA and was the son of the late Charles M. and Sudye Landrum Ellis.

Charles grew up in Danville and graduated from George Washington High School. During WWII he served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg for fifty years, and a valued employee of Rockingham Mutual Insurance, now Rockingham Group, for most of his insurance career.

On October 30, 1948 he married the former, Ruth Cottrell, who preceded him in death on July 2, 2006. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Eldridge Ellis Finch.

He is survived by one daughter, Carrie E. Sutherland and husband, Timothy of York, PA; and one granddaughter, Abigail Ruth Sutherland.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Lantz Chapel at Bridgewater Retirement Community with Chaplain Debra Huffman officiating.
