Dennis Wayne Arey, 73, a resident of Dayton, died September 20, 2021 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg.

A son of the late Clifford and Leona Kesler Arey he was born on September 30, 1947 in Rockingham County where he lived his entire life.

Dennis owned J & D Motors, was formerly employed at Kawneer, White Wave and retired from Cargills. He was a member of the Rion-Bowman VFW #632, Fraternal Order of Eagles #4150 and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He enjoyed karaoke and collecting toy cars.

Surviving are two sons, Norman W. Arey and wife, Barbara of Broadway, and Jerry Wayne Arey of Dayton; a number of grandchildren including Dylan Wayne Hoover and Jesse Wayne Arey; a brother, Robert Arey of Dayton and a sister, Diane Thompson of Dayton. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Infiniti Grace Arey.

His body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg and all services will be private.

I worked with Dennis for many years out at Cargill and was so sorry to hear of his passing. Dennis always had a funny story to tell at work which would lighten the mood a bit. I know he will be missed. My most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

We send our deepest sympathy to the Arey family, I lived with them when I was 18, Leona , Betty, JW, Norman, and Dennis. He was a good man and always took care of his family, to his sister Diane and brother Robert my prayers and hugs are with you, may you find peace and comfort and strength. RIP Dennis.
