Edward Andrew Mitchell

He was born in Kline, WV on December 15, 1947 and was the son of Marie Hartman Mitchell Cook of Harrisonburg and the late Jesse Mitchell.

Edward graduated in 1967 from Franklin High School in Franklin, WV. He served from 1967 to1973 in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, and also served from 1979 to1996 in the Army National Guard. He retired after 23 years of military service. In 2010, he retired from Tenneco Walker Manufacturing.

He was a member of South Mill Creek Church of the Brethren in Mozer, WV but attended Cross Keys Worship Center in Mt. Crawford.

Edward enjoyed Hunting, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling in West Virginia with his family, visiting vineyards and wineries in the area, winemaking, growing his own grapes and other fruits. He could do anything he set his mind to which included building his own cabin in West Virginia.

On June 1, 1979 he married the former K. Nadine Moore Wade, who survives.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Tammy R. Golladay of Broadway; step-father, Luther L. Cook, Jr. of Harrisonburg; step-son, Wesley A. Wade and wife, Karen of Broadway; step-daughter, Wendy R. Goodman and husband, Bartley of Snyder, TX; grandchildren, Markel Durden and Katlyn Golladay; step-grandchildren, Brooke Showalter, Jacob Carr, Caleb Wade, Rachel Carr and Reghan Wade; sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Alt and husband, Norman of Harrisonburg, Frances D. Halterman and husband, Ronald of Broadway, and Treva M. Thomas and husband, Dennis, of Dayton; brothers, Garland Lee Mitchell and wife, Loretta, of Dayton, James R. Mitchell of Harrisonburg; an adopted brother, Larry W. Cook and wife, Sarah, of Mt. Crawford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be cremated and a Celebration of Life service and picnic will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Mitchell Cabin, Mitchell Mtn. Rd., Upper Tract, WV.
