Evelyn Ruth (Kinsinger) Ritchie

Evelyn Ruth Kinsinger Ritchie, 90, of Broadway, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 1, 1928 in Cumberland, MD and was the daughter of the late Roy L. and Margaret M. Lawrence Kinsinger. Evelyn’s passion pursued since early life was nursing, a skill she performed well because of her innate ability to empathize with others and to care for their discomforts. She held nursing positions in Maryland, on a mission field in Brazil, in the Appalachians, and at Rockingham Memorial Hospital before her retirement. On June 28, 1980 she married, Virgil Dow Ritchie, who preceded her in death on March 9, 1997. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Audrey Kinsinger, a nephew, Tim Kinsinger, step daughter, Evelyn Wilkins. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Board of Missions, V M Missions Finance Office, 601 Parkwood Drive Harrisonburg, VA 22802. Honoring her wishes she will be cremated and a graveside service will be at Woodbine Cemetery on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Harold Miller officiating.
