Evelyn Marie Turner

She was born September 12, 1927 in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Margaret Sites Barton.

Evelyn lived her entire life in Harrisonburg, attended Harrisonburg High School and was a member of the Salvation Army. She was employed at Marvel Poultry for 26 years before retiring.

On February 2, 1945 she married Howard J. Turner, Jr. who preceded her in death December 20, 2008.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce A. Myers and husband, Ronnie of Harrisonburg; three sons, Carl B. Turner and wife, Marguerite, of Bridgewater, Richard L. Turner Sr. and wife, Patricia, and Terry W. Turner, both of Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Chapel of the funeral home with Captain Duane Burleigh and Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
