Helen Elinor Gossler Martin

She spent her early life in Renovo, PA, graduated from Renovo High School and earned her R.N. from Wilmington Memorial Hospital, Wilmington Delaware.

Helen was a music lover and played the piano, organ and clarinet. She enjoyed singing in the church choir. She and her husband Johnny Martin loved to travel. After having worked in Labor and Delivery for 27 years, Helen retired from Rockingham Memorial Hospital in 1987.

In 1947, Helen married John P. Martin, Jr., who survives. Also surviving are four children: Dawn Shank (Jim), Diane Huffman (Mark), John “Jack” Martin (Becky), Glenn Martin (Debby), 11 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Clover Hill United Methodist Church (3457 Fulton School Road, Dayton, VA) on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Eddie Barnett. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
