James Y. Fukumoto

A son of Seki and Kumakichi Fukumoto, Jim was born in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in Tempe, AZ. He came to Harrisonburg in 1947.

In 1949, Jim married Masa Mae Isaki and together they made Harrisonburg their permanent home with their children, Donna, Wanda and Matthew.

Jim also owned and operated Rockingham Motor Sales for many years. He was a member of the Harrisonburg Lions Club serving as Lions District Governor of Virginia and State Council Chairman.

Devout Catholics, Jim and Mae were members of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Masa Mae and daughter, Donna Fukumoto, MD. Also preceding him in death, two sisters, Marie Fukushima, Mary Nakatsukasa; three brothers, George Fukumoto, Fred Kajikawa and Bill Kajikawa.

Surviving are his daughter, Wanda Kurbel (Steve); son, Matthew (Shelley); 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his special furry spaniel, Sunrise Sam.

All services will be private.
