Joan Elizabeth (Hulvey) Carter

A daughter of the late Arnold O. and Edith V. Branner Hulvey she was born on November 19, 1939, in Virginia.

Joan attended Muhlenberg Lutheran Church and had retired from J. C. Penney in Harrisonburg, where she had been employed for over 10 years. She had resided in Woodbridge, Virginia prior to moving to Harrisonburg 30+ years ago.

Joan is survived by one sister, Shirley Dooley, of Las Vegas, NV; two nieces, Brenda Golladay, of Spokane, WA and Mary Reid, and husband, Paul of Ft. Collins, CO; one nephew, Gary Hulvey, and wife, Terry of Harrisonburg; two great-nieces, Kelsey Hulvey and Blair Hulvey; and one great-nephew, Alex Hulvey.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Carter; three brothers, Gerald G. “G.G.” Hulvey, Larry Hulvey, and Wayne “Breezy” Hulvey.

A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
