She was born on May 24, 1946 in Roanoke Rapids, NC and was the daughter of the late Rufus Alvin and Dorothy Hancock Bridgers.
Joan was raised in Chittys Fork, NC and Severn, NC. She moved to Harrisonburg in 1971 and was employed for 52 years with Virginia National Bank all the way thru Bank of America before retiring. She was an active and devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church for 48 years where she also served on many church boards. Joan enjoyed reading and going to the movies.
On September 4, 1971, she married Earl F. Taylor, who survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Margo Sisson of Ashburn, VA and Priscilla Hedgpeth of Conway, NC.
Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Reaves officiating.
