

He is survived by his wife, Jolie and son Dillon, father, Thomas Shank; two sisters, Lauren Shank and Missy DeGraff and his nephew, Quinlan.
Leighton was a graduate of Woodbridge High School and James Madison University. He was employed at JMU. He loved the Shenandoah Valley and called Harrisonburg his home.
He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Shenandoah Valley Bike Coalition, and he was a founding member of SOS Advertising. He loved trail work, mountain biking, developing software, all music, especially Phish, and playing his guitar. He liked spending time with his friends and family and will be sorely missed. Leighton was bright, well-loved, funny, jovial, forgiving and infinitely patient. He loved his wife and son very much.
He was born on February 21, 1978 in Woodbridge, Va., and was the son of Thomas Shank of Woodbridge and the late Catherine M. Finigan Shank.
A funeral service will be held 6 pm Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Dr. E. Thomas Murphy, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Another visitation will be held at the Miller Funeral Home in Woodbridge, Va. on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 from 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Va. at Noon on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015.
