Madison "Sonny" Henry Brown III

He was born on June 16, 1955 and was the son of the late Madison H. Brown Jr. and Hazel Toliver Brown.

Sonny was a lifelong resident of Harrisonburg and was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. He had previously been employed with the City of Harrisonburg, New York Carpet World and Office Max before becoming disabled in 2004. He had a passion for his family, traveling to the beach, going on cruises, the Miami Heat, New Orleans Saints and his blue Cadillac.

Sonny is survived by his lifetime companion, Cynthia Judy of Harrisonburg; a sister in law, Edmonia Washington Brown of Columbus, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special family friends, Edith Nickens, James and Angie Forbus and Noah Brumfield; and his two dogs, Baby Girl and Little Man.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul James Brown.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, June 13, 2014 at John Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Wesley Thornberry officiating. Burial will follow at Newtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
