Raymond Rowell Hedrick

A son of the late Charles Opie and Estella Propst Hedrick, he was born on Dec. 20, 1929 in Brandywine, WV and graduated from Franklin High School. He moved to Maryland in 1959 where he lived the majority of his life. Rowell was in the flooring business for over 35 years and owned and operated his own business for over 20 years. He had a special fondness of Brandywine, WV.

On Jan. 31, 1956 he married Veralee Metzgar Hedrick who survives him. Also surviving is a son, Larry Rowell Hedrick of Hughesville, MD; three daughters, Susan E. Hedrick of Riverdale, MD; Sheila R. Sutphin of Dunkirk, MD; and Dawn L. Hutchison of Jessup, MD; seven grandchildren; one brother, Everett Hedrick of Marlington, WV and one sister, Mary Howdyshell of Lanham, MD.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock Tuesday morning, Jan. 4, 2011 from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Sue Tyykila officiating.

A graveside service will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandywine, WV at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Monday evening at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
