
A daughter of the late Howard Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Neff Myers, she was born on October 12, 1915, in Clifton, VA. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1938. She was a sales representative for a clothing line “Real Silk” and a teacher at Keezletown High School.
Mrs. Early lived at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Ashland, VA – Hanover County, for seven years; and also made her home in McKenney, VA and in Israel for nine years. She loved Israel so much she became a citizen there as well. She was a missionary throughout several countries; and a member of the First Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg and was active in Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Ashland, VA.
She married Elmer Newton Early who preceded her in death in December, 1972.
Surviving are two sons, Lee Edward Early, and wife, Pat, of Mt. Crawford, VA; William Glen Early, and wife, Judy, of Timberville; seven grandchildren, Chris, Scott and Karen Early, Theresa Bates, David, Matthew and Heather Early; and four great-grandchildren, Keaton and Cinnamon Early, and Wynona and Sarah Bates; one sister, Hazel Ralston of Sykesville, MD; one brother, James Myers of Edinburg, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.
Her body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg. There will be no viewing.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Thursday, September 22, at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 24, at 11:00 AM at Otterbein Chapel United Methodist Church, 8514 S. Middle Road in Mount Jackson with Rev. Vicki Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater at 3:00 PM.
