

William Raymond Johnson, Jr. 94, of Bridgewater died Monday, February 8, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren. William Raymond Johnson, Jr., 94, a resident of Bridgewater passed away on Monday evening, February 8, 2016 at Bridgewater Home.
He was born on July 28, 1921 in Mt. Sidney and was the son of the late W. Raymond Johnson and Mae Houff Johnson.
William graduated from Mt. Sidney High School and served the next three and a half years as head cook and camp buyer at the Castaner General Hospital in Castaner, Puerto Rico. He then furthered his education by graduating from Bridgewater College and Medical College of Virginia where he received his doctorate. He worked in the medical profession for 40 years practicing in Internal Medicine in Cincinnati and in 1996 he moved to Bridgewater. His special interest was improving attitudes towards racism. He was a member of Bridgewater Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ellen Shirky Johnson of Bridgewater; their children, Dan Johnson of Chicago, Dawn Johnson of Haiti, Bill Johnson of Cincinnati, OH an Diane Fallon of Washington State. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Wright Johnson and is survived by their children, David Johnson of Olympia, Washington; Judy Lawrence of Seattle, Washington State, Karen Johnson of Cincinnati, OH. He also leaves five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Kiser of Mt. Sidney and Margaret Ridgeway of Staunton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At his request, he will be cremated and services will be announced at a later date.
