

The Day Family announces the passing of their father, Charles C. Day on October 27, 2015 at the age of 77. Charles Day was born on July 24, 1938 to the late Clyde C. and Grace Leigh Day of Speedwell, TN. Charlie was a graduate of Powell Valley High School where he was a standout athlete. He received his college degree from Carson Newman University where he starred on the mens basketball team while earning his degree in secondary education. Charlie joined the US Army out of Carson Newman and served his country proudly. Upon return home, Charlie taught Physical Education at his alma mater Powell Valley High School. He was also the Head Coach of the Basketball, and Baseball teams. He was also named the schools first ever Head Football Coach at the inception of that sport to Powell Valley. Charlie touched many lives and had a positive influence during his tenure as an educator and coach. Charlie moved to the Midwest to search out his lifelong passion of becoming a farmer where for many years he owned and operated a large crop and dairy farm in southeast Kansas. Upon leaving the farming business, Charlie partnered with a friend and started B & C Trucking Company which he operated until his retirement in 2004 while living in Colorado. Charlie moved back to his roots, returning to Speedwell, Tennessee to live out the remaining years of his life while dabbling in his passion of farming again. He continued to farm hay, handle horses and raise a garden until recently falling ill and not being able to continue his passion. Charlie is the proud father of 5 children, and 11 grandchildren who gave him much pride.
Charlie leaves behind his daughter, Dina (Perry) Algren and their children Madilyn and Mason of Birmingham, Alabama
His son Steve (Michelle) Day and their children Grace, Eva, Elizabeth and Georgia of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
His daughter April (Stan) Willis and their children Bryant and Ashton of Palmyra, Pennsylvania
His son David (Billie) Day of Dallas, Texas and his children James and Kayla
His son Jerry (Rebecca) Day of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their children Talara, Zoetta, and Aubrey.
Charlie also leaves behind his only sibling, brother Dr. George L. Day and his wife Judy and their children Michael, Patrick and Tracy along with their spouses and children.
Charlie will also leave behind his special companion and partner in life Linda Russell, her daughter Kim and her grandson Aaron. What a special lady she was to him and remains to his children.
Charlie professed his faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and today is receiving his reward!!! God called this cowboy home!
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate, TN. The family will be receiving friends and celebrating Charlies life on Friday October 30, 2015 from 5 until 7 P.M. at Harrogate United Methodist Church followed by funeral service at 7:00 P.M. Friday Night and 11 A.M. Saturday burial service at the Harrogate Cemetery with Military Honors.
