
John Oliver Adams of Cumberland Gap, age 59, passed away at home on February 23, 2016. John was a welder by trade and owned and operated Adams Machine and Fabrication. He had been a member of several local volunteer fire departments and served on the Tennessee State Fire Commission. John was a trustee/moderator of the Chumley Cemetery. He was also Vice President of the Cumberland Gap, TN, Genealogy and History Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Betsy Adams. Brothers-in-law: Eugene Shannon and Jerry Taylor.
He is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Teresa Taylor Adams;
Daughter, Sarah Adams;
Sister and brother-in-law, Joan and General Webb;
Uncle, Oscar Smelser;
Aunts, Mattie Ruth Lambert and Roberta Ellison;
Mother-in-law, Wilma Taylor;
Sisters-in-law, Janice Shannon, Annette and husband Glenn Cobb, and Angela and husband Dennis Drummonds,
And a host of nieces, nephews, and families.
John and his family attend the First Baptist Church in Harrogate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church Van Fund.
The family will receive friends Thursday February 25 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. With the funeral to follow at 8 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel in Harrogate. Burial will be Friday February 26 at 11 AM at the Chumley Cemetery.
Officiating: Rev. Bill Duncan and Rev. Terry England.
Pallbearers: Brandon Capps, Darin Shannon, Jimmy Cooper, Steve Baker, Ray Paul, Vernon France, and Kenny Devore. Coffey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
