Mrs. Mitchell was born on February 21, 1938 in Dierks, Arkansas to her parents, Carl and Lola Boyce. She graduated high school in 1957 from Warren High School in Warren, Arkansas. She moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to attend Ayers Business school in 1957 and lived at the Business Girl’s Inn. She married Charles E. Mitchell on February 7, 1959. Mrs. Mitchell worked for Allen Millwork and retired in 2012 .
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen Ballinger Mitchell of Haughton, LA, her grandchildren Mark and Audrey Mitchell of Haughton, LA., her brother, John Boyce of Springdale, AR; a host of nieces and nephews and her very close friend Carry Franks of Shreveport, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Mitchell; her sister, Shirley Welch; and her son Scott Mitchell.
A special thank you to her caregivers at Nightingale Hospice, staff at Savannah Grand, and special friend, Mr. James Bissell who went above and beyond for Mrs. Mitchell.
A graveside service will take place on January 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Park West. In lieu of flowers, please donate to MD Anderson Cancer Center or to the charity of your choice.
