Amanda “Mandy” Ann Warren, 67, of Shreveport, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2023, surrounded by her family. Her long battle with cancer is now over, and she is celebrating joyfully in Heaven with our Savior.
Mandy was born in Minden, Louisiana, to Rene and AJ Warren on July 26, 1955. She graduated from Heflin High School in 1973, where she was a class favorite and an athlete. Mandy later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy from Louisiana Tech in 1978. During her time at LA Tech, she was a member of the Lady Techsters basketball team. Not only was Mandy part of history as this team was only founded in 1974, but she also blazed her own trail by being named to the All-Louisiana women’s team.
Besides Mandy’s love for basketball, she had a passion for children with special needs. Her soul was fed by helping those who needed it most and who could not help themselves. It was never about financial gain for her; the focus was always about making a difference in the life of a child. Mandy proudly used her therapy skills at the LA Lions Camp in Anacoco, LA, and at Camp Wawbansee in Simsboro, LA. She also volunteered at Holy Angels, a facility she loved immensely. When Mandy was not working and helping others, she loved spending time at the beach with her toes in the sand. Oh, how she loved eating seafood and looking for seashells! Mandy was also gifted with an extremely creative mind. She could take the most mundane objects and create something beautiful.
Mandy was preceded in death by her father, AJ Warren, and her brother, Paul Warren. Mandy is survived by her mother, Rene Warren; as well as her brother, Jack (Lori) Warren; and sisters: Teresa Collier, Ellen Carlisle, and Amy (Cameron) Dean. She was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Joan Stadtlander and Suzy Nelson.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church located at 522 E Flournoy Lucas Rd in Shreveport with burial to immediately follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park located at 601 US-80 in Haughton.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Carlisle, Elliot Dean, Thomas Dean, Jason Ogwyn, Asa Warren and Mackenzie Warren.
Mandy’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Christus Hospice for their kindness and devotion during Mandy’s illness.
In remembrance of Mandy, the family requests a charitable donation be made to Holy Angels in lieu of flowers.
