Arlin Richard Smith

HAUGHTON, LA – Arlin Richard Smith, 80, of Haughton, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, April 17th, 2017. There will be a Celebration of Life held on Thursday, April 20th, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Castor Baptist Church in Leesville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hill Crest Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation at Castor Baptist Church in Leesville on Thursday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Castor Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was born in Leesville, Louisiana on October 6th, 1936. He served in the United States Air Force for 8 years and then attended the American Flyers School in Ardmore, Oklahoma where he received multiple certifications. He was married to Sydney Drew Smith on April 15th, 1964. Arlin had a career in electrical contracting and electrical design. He was a faithful member of numerous Baptist Churches and had a passion for his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dovie Smith, and his brother, Oscar Smith.

He was survived by his wife Sydney, of 53 years; his son, Arlin Timothy Smith; his daughter, Susan Smith Christner and husband Steve; and his five grandchildren, John Paul, Kathryn, Andrew, Anna, and Caroline Christner. He is also survived by one brother, Elmer Smith and his wife Inez; one sister, Lois Bradley; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
