

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Barbara Gail Adkins Yarbrough, 70, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away March 16, 2012, after a year long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shreveport, Louisiana with Pastor Ring officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, Louisiana. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Hillcrest Memorial Park funeral home.
Barbara was born January 22, 1942, to James Buchanan (J.B.) Adkins and Helen Frye Adkins. She graduated from Coushatta High School and Northwestern State University. She married Gerald Don Yarbrough; they had two daughters, Donna Gail and Martha Diane, and later divorced. Barbara was a kindergarten teacher for over 20 years and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her father, J.B. Adkins. She is survived by her mother, Helen Adkins of Benton; sisters, Susan Lawrence and husband Robert Lawrence of Benton and Carol Jones and husband Mike Jones of Coushatta; brother, Bruce Adkins of Benton; daughters, Donna and husband Charles Hymel and Martha and husband Travis Purifoy, all of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, William, John and Julia Helen Hymel, Daniel, Paul and Benjamin Purifoy; niece, Amy Adkins Mayfield, nephews, Terry and Matt Lawrence, Allen and David Jones, and Matt Adkins; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Killen, brother-in-law, Ferrell Yarbrough, and many other friends and family members.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Matt Adkins, Terry Lawrence, Matt Lawrence, Allen Jones, David Jones, Daniel Purifoy, William Hymel and John Hymel.
