Betty Evelyn Wilson Bridges Janzen, age 84, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, April 10, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Funeral services for Betty will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, Louisiana. The service will be officiated by Rev. Danny Nugent. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 5-7 P.M.
Betty was born August 8, 1937, in Leesville, Vernon Parish, Louisiana, to Carl Markes Wilson, Sr. and Ina Laura McLaren Wilson. She graduated from Pickering High School, in Pickering, Louisiana in 1955. On April 5, 1959, she married Gary Don Bridges. To this union, four children were born. On May 19, 1989, she married Carl Frederick Janzen.
Betty was a Christian woman having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior early in life. She loved her Savior throughout her life, and it greatly comforted her when her children came to know Jesus. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her, and she didn’t hesitate to brag on them when she had the opportunity. She had a special relationship with each of her children and grandchildren, a relationship that will be greatly missed. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the values she learned from her parents.
She always put her family before herself and went above and beyond to see to their well being. Over the years, she worked in the insurance industry writing commercial policies. After she and Carl retired, she enjoyed their camping trips to nearby parks and lakes. She also loved visiting her family wherever they were living at the time. Betty was an independent, sometimes outspoken, caring, loving person who earned respect from family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl F. Janzen, and her ex-husband, Gary D. Bridges; her sisters, Carrie Wilson Rhodes and Helen Wilson Kilburg; and her brothers, Carl M. Wilson, Jr., and Marvin J. Wilson, and her son-in-law, James Matthew Boyett.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Alan (and Dianne) Bridges of Minden, Louisiana, James L. (and Marisa) Bridges of Springfield, Ohio, Cheryl E. Bridges (and Jeff) Darley of Buford, Georgia, and Beverly L. Bridges Boyett of Keithville, Louisiana; 8 grandchildren, Kristina Bridges Niswander, Barbara Bridges DeWitt, Robert Bridges, Gail Bridges Morgan, Jessica Boyett Jones, Joshua Boyett, Sylvia Darley Ricker, and Sasha Darley Farmer; and 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Rachel Royalty of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Ruth Wilson of Leesville, Louisiana, and Linda Zappa of Richmond, Texas; and brother, Huey C. Wilson, Sr. of Leesville, Louisiana.
