Doll was born on May 9, 1933 in Shongaloo, LA, the daughter of William E. Munn and Bertha Lindsey Munn. She graduated from Haughton High School as the Salutatorian in 1950. She was voted “Most Beautiful” by her Senior class.
On August 16, 1951, Doll married the love of her life, Oliver Bryan Mitchell. For 72 years, she stood faithfully by her husband’s side as his greatest support. Together, they established Zion Hill Farm in Haughton, LA.
Doll was a well-loved and respected member of First Baptist Church of Haughton. She served in the Women’s Ministry, sang in the Worship Choir, and helped lead the “Cornerstone Life Group”. She also worked as a realtor with her long-time friend, Lucille, at Lucille Cash Real Estate.
A real charmer, to know Doll was to love her. She dazzled many with her good humor and effortless wit. Her gentleness and kind words extended to all, and the patience that she possessed remains unmatched. She was a gifted homemaker and an outstanding cook. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and traveling the world with her sweetheart.
Lovingly called “Mamaw”, she was always the heartbeat of the Mitchell Family. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her loved ones. She made a point to know everyone’s favorite meal, and she cherished having family gathered around her kitchen table. To be loved and adored by Mamaw was such a precious gift. One that will be treasured forever.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bryan Mitchell, her brother W.D. Munn, her daughters-in-law Becki Stewart Mitchell and Diann Taylor Mitchell, and her grandson Aaron Stroud Mitchell.
Doll leaves behind her sons, Bill Mitchell, Steve Mitchell and wife Carole, and Dave Mitchell and wife Cyndy; her six grandchildren Amy Mitchell Guendulay Bernstein and husband Jake, Adam Mitchell and wife Angela, David Mitchell and wife Brandy, Brittany Mitchell, Sara Mitchell Nobles and husband Daniel, and Blake Mitchell and wife Bri; her thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held before service on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the start of the funeral at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Haughton, 105 E. Washington Avenue, Haughton LA, 71037. Interment will be at the Mitchell Family Plot at Camp Zion Cemetery, Haughton LA.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Adam Mitchell, John Aaron Mitchell, David Mitchell, Shane Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Daniel Nobles, and Wes Tilley. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class, the “Cornerstone Life Group”.
Doll Mitchell was a Wife, Mother, and Grandmother of Noble Character. She held unswervingly to the hope she professed and faithfully followed the path lit by her Savior all the days of her life until that path finally led her Home.
