

Bryan Bray passed quietly from this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 10, 2010, surrounded by those who love him. Bryan, who was born August 12, 1960 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, died at home in Shreveport, after a courageous two-year battle with Burkitt’s lymphoma.
The Celebration of Life Service for Bryan will be held at 2 pm on October 13, 2010 at Bryan’s home church, Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. Services will be in the Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Chuck Pourchiau, Senior Pastor of Broadmoor. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 12 at Hillcrest Funeral Home, in the town of Haughton. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park immediately following the services.
Bryan was a graduate of LSU-Shreveport in Accounting and was a Certified Public Accountant. Bryan’s career spanned work in public accounting and work as a controller for various family-owned businesses here in the Shreveport area. At the time of his illness, Bryan was working at the best job in the world, as the Chief Financial Officer for Etherege Electric Company. Bryan was also a devoted student of the Bible and served the Lord throughout his life. For many years, Bryan served as a discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship, a group and an organization that he credited with helping to develop the faith and the strength with which Bryan faced his final illness.
Bryan was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Marie Bray. Bryan is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Susan Bray and his devoted daughter Kristen and her husband Ben Hargis of Nashville, Tennessee. Bryan’s father, Bill Bray, also survives him. In addition Bryan is survived by his brother Michael Bray and wife Nancy of Denver, Colorado; his sister Cheryl Collins and her husband Kenny of Phoenix, Arizona; and his sister Bonnie Rothenberger and husband, David, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Further survivors include Patricia Kee, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law Lisa Rentfro and her husband Paul of Dover, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Bryan’s nephews and will include: Christopher Bray, Jon Michael Bray, David Rentfro, Andrew Rothenberger, Joshua Rothenberger, and Matthew Rothenberger.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and especially Dr. Nathan Fowler and Shirley George, APN. Special thanks as well to the staff of Willis-Knighton Hospice. Special thanks as well, to Mike Etherege and O.D. Cox. So many friends, family, caregivers, prayer warriors, and volunteers made it possible for Bryan to have his needs met so that he could fight this cancer. Thank you.
