Clyde was born in Sioux City, Iowa on May 30, 1947. He served in the Army from 1967 to 1969 as a Medic in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star with a V device, for heroic achievement in a combat zone.
Upon his return, he married, started a family and graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in business. He loved all things on the water: water skiing, sailing, boating, scuba diving and swimming, but his true love was fishing, especially on Caddo Lake. He sometimes would skip the lake for the beach and enjoyed vacations with Tommy in Mexico and Caribbean. He was a kind man with a particular soft spot for animals, especially his beloved standard poodle, Trooper.
He could fix anything and loved to help wherever, whenever he was needed. A handy man he was! And a fantastic chef too. He loved to experiment with new recipes and techniques, but he mostly enjoyed sharing his delicious concoctions with friends. He was a mean chili maker and won a charity cookoff or two.
He died of complications from Agent Orange Exposure during his tours in Vietnam.
He is survived by his dear Friend Tommy Van Ness, his brother Michael Briggs, his wife Ellie, his two daughters, Ashley Briggs and Alicia Briggs Geerlings, her husband Maurits Geerlings, and his grandchildren Lucie and Quentin.
