nurturing mother, adoring Nana, beloved sister, and treasured friend. Her gentle spirit and unwavering
love touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.
She was born to Herman Southern and Lottie “Marie” Southern (Smith) on June 26, 1961, in Bossier City,
Louisiana. She lived throughout northwest Louisiana, but Benton is where she called home. She was a
proud supporter of the Benton Tigers and dedicated to her work in the Benton High School Cafeteria
where she selflessly served meals to countless students with a smile and showered them with love and
care. Throughout her career, she came to know so many wonderful women that made such a powerful
impact on her life, and who she grew to call family. She went on to retire from Bossier Parish School
system in 2018, but her warm presence and genuine concern for others left a mark on the hearts of
those who crossed her path.
Cindy was a true lover of nature. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of camping under the
stars and tending to her vibrant garden, where her green thumb brought life and beauty to the world
around her. Her laughter echoed through the woods and her love and kindness blossomed like the
flowers she tended.
Above all though, she deeply cherished the moments she spent with her family. She met her husband,
Stephen Adams, in the summer of 1985 who she instantly fell in love with. They were married the
following February; they would have soon shared 38 years together. Together they proudly raised three
children in which she instilled strength, resilience, kindness, and love which carried on through the lives
of her grandchildren, who she loved deeply. Every moment of togetherness was filled with laughter, love,
good food, and cherished memories. One of her joys in life was cooking for the family whether it was
Chicken & Dumplings, a new recipe she found on Facebook or just a simple dessert, we all came together through food. Her home was a constant sanctuary of warmth and hospitality where all were welcomed with open arms and a warm embrace.
Though she may be gone from our sight, her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of
those she held dear. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and
strength for all who loved her.
