

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Services to honor Daniel’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, 601 US Hwy 80 in Haughton, LA. Brother Currie Godfrey will be officiating the service. Burial will immediately follow in the park.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Jones, Cory Johnson, Brett Luedtke, Mark Chauvin, Jason Pierre and Troy Jones.
Daniel was born November 27, 1948, to Eunice Bergeron Jones and John William Jones who preceded him in death as did his sisters, Ellen Arnold and Sandra Ruda and brother, Gerald Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaya Jones Walek and her life partner, Gary Young; son, Kenneth Ray Jones and wife, Amy Jones. He also leaves behind to grieve the loss are his granddaughters, Madison and Abigail Jones, and grandson, Brett Luedtke, and four great grandchildren, Weston, Mitchell, Piper and Finley Luedtke, as well as seven brothers and seven sisters. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and close lifelong friends.
Daniel followed in his father’s footsteps to become a carpenter by trade and gained experience and expertise in residential and commercial construction. He was well known to be skilled and dedicated to his profession. He was always reliable, knowledgeable and dependable in all circumstances.
He deeply loved and was devoted to his children and grandchildren. He was a good father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be sorely missed.
Daniel was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Army and served in active combat duty in Vietnam in 1969 at the age of twenty-one years old. He was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for distinguished and exceptionally meritorious achievement during his combat service.
