

Miss Darlene Ann Nelson, born January 7, 1944, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2026, at the age of 82. Visitation will be Friday, May 29, from 10-11, with the service at 11:00 am. At Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana, conducted by Dr. Randy Harper of Bellaire Baptist Church, Bossier City, and Bro. Cory Tucker of First Baptist Coushatta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Josey and Genevieve Nelson. Darlene resided at The Bloom in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Darlene graduated from Bossier High School and soon began a lifelong love of continuing education. Throughout the years, she attended a variety of educational institutions and courses, always striving to expand her knowledge in areas that fascinated her. Her studies ranged from legal education to the medical field.
Darlene believed deeply in serving her country and community. She participated in numerous civic organizations and committees, including the American Legion, Bossier Arts Council, Bossier Council on Aging, and the Bossier Clean City Committee. Raised in an Air Force family, she proudly embraced a life shaped by resilience, patriotism, and community service.
She was a devoted member of the Grace Sunday School Class of Bellaire Baptist Church. During her residence at The Bloom, Darlene faithfully served the Lord by bringing comfort and sharing the Gospel with fellow residents. She was known for offering encouraging words, a listening ear, and wisdom to those around her. Her hobbies included bingo, puzzles, and reading.
She leaves behind her relatives: Glen and Judy Cannon, Jason and Jennifer Moseley, Jeffrey and Christy Suggs, all of Coushatta; Billy and Melanie Garland of Natchitoches; Brian and Hailey Garland of Carrollton, Ohio; Jason and Mary Garland of Canton, Ohio.
Pallbearers will be Billy Garland, Jason Moseley, Ben Moseley, Morgan Moseley, Rafe Suggs, and Michael Lemoine.
Donations in Darlene’s honor may be made to the Grace Sunday School Class of Bellaire Baptist Church.
