Don was born in East Chicago, Indiana in 1950 to Stephen and Antoinette Curtis. He was an avid golfer, bonfire creator and fisherman. Don attended Lake Central High School in Schererville, Indiana before studying sales and marketing at Ball State University. After college, he moved to Haughton, Louisiana and began working for local electric suppliers as a Sales/Quotation specialist.
He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite pastimes were spent supporting his kids and grandkids their activities such as band, theatre, and sports, especially baseball. If he didn’t have something going on with family, you could find him watching golf tournaments, auto racing or doing yard work.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon L. Curtis. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Curtis, his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Kim Curtis (San Antonio, TX), his grandchildren Devon Curtis, and his wife Shannon (College Station, TX), Lindsey Curtis (San Antonio, TX), Hunter Arbaugh (Ruston, LA) and Austin Arbaugh (Doyline, LA).
A Gathering of Family and Friends is being held between 1:30 and 3:00 pm, on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Hill Crest Funeral Home located at 601 Hwy 80 East, Haughton, LA. Donations to the Cancer Society in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
