David was born September 29, 1959, at Lakewood Hospital in Morgan City, LA and passed away on September 13, 2023. He graduated from Haughton High School in 1977 and obtained his Bachelor Degree in Education from LSUS. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1979 as a Boiler Tech on board the U.S.S. Manley. He worked for Halliburton and Teledyne Oil Company and offshore. David was a math teacher for 23 plus years and worked as the Education and I.T. Professional at a prison in Pecos, TX. He completed his career at Central High School in Natchitoches, LA before retiring.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Dorothy Sparks of Duncan, OK, and Dudley and Mildred Muncy of New Iberia, LA; father, Perry Edgar Sparks of Haughton, LA; and brother, Bryan Edgar Sparks of Bossier City, LA.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Miriam Sparks; mother, Gloria Muncy Sparks; brother, William Trent Sparks and wife Leah; step-daughter, Erin Rose McKelvey; two sons and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Services to celebrate David’s life will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
