Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Avery will be 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Dr. Joseph F.Brown, pastor, Liberty Missionary Baptist Church officiating with interment following in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hill Crest Funeral Home Tuesday, November 16, from 12 noon until service time.

Mrs. Avery was born July 20, 1935 in Rayville, LA to parents Georgia and Richard Hartley and passed away at her home in Haughton, LA Friday November 12, 2010 following an extended illness. She was a loving wife to her husband, a loving mother

to her children and a devoted homemaker as they traveled to many different locations in their Air Force Career.

Mrs. Avery was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Kenneth Ray Avery. She is survived by her two sons, Royce Avery and wife Wilma, and Jimmy H. Avery, daughter Carolyn J. Mathews and husband Robert, grandchildren Angela Colvin, Jason L. Avery, Joshua J. Henderson, Christopher R. Henderson, Taylor Avery, Magan Bomar, Hannah McDonald, Caleb Mathews, and great grandchildren, Kayla Colvin, Brandon Colvin, Shawn Colvin, Gabriella Henderson, Addison McDonald, James Bomar, Julianne Bomar, and three great grandchildlren on the way. Mrs. Avery is also survived by her sister, Lula Faye Massey and brother, Jack Hartley.
