Doyle Gilbert

Bossier City LA- Mr. Doyle Gilbert 81, passed away at the NW Louisiana War Veterans Home on January 30, 2012. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, with the Reverend Joe W. Srygley officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.

Doyle was born on August 4, 1930 to Lewis and Marzie Gilbert in Downsville, LA. Doyle served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1968. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He married Billie Jean Drummond on August 4, 1952. They had two children Gregg Gilbert of Waco, TX and Belinda Ann Culpepper of Haughton, LA. His wife Billie Jean passed away in 1999. Doyle married Kathy Cook on September 1, 2001 and became a step- father to children Christine Glover, Celeste Dellinger and Pat Cook.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Marzie; wife Billie Jean; brothers William, Harold, John and Tom.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Gregg and wife and Karla; daughter Belinda and husband Darren, Christine Glover and husband Mike, Celeste Dellinger and husband Jack. Pat Cook and wife Sharon; grandchildren Valeria Gilbert, Cory and Chelsea Culpepper, Kathryn Miller, Nicholas Glover, Audrey Dellinger, Emily Dellinger, Casey Cook, Claire Cook, Callie Cook and great-granddaughter Eloise Miller.

The family wishes to thank the people of the War Veterans Home in Bossier City Louisiana for the excellent care and the concern they showed taking care of Doyle.

Pallbearers will be Terry Ogburn, Jack Dellinger, Tom Gilbert, Pat Cook, Mike Compton, and Johnny Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers are his friends from his Sunday School Class.
